I want to become a neuroscientist," my daughter Siri declared.
For many, this aspiration may seem typical, but for Siri, it is extraordinary. Being autistic and non-speaking, with limited access to formal education until three years ago, her journey to this dream is remarkable.
Initially, we thought Siri's communication abilities were restricted, until we discovered the letter board method. Witnessing her spell out words shattered our preconceptions. With dedicated learning and guidance, Siri's voice slowly emerged, culminating in her expressed desire to pursue higher education.
Transitioning from special education to aspiring to study the intricacies of the brain is a profound shift for Siri. The same organ that once concealed her voice now symbolizes her future ambitions.

As a father, researcher, and innovator, I recognized the importance of establishing a supportive environment for Siri, fostering belief in her capabilities, and paving the way for her aspirations. Siri's dream exemplifies the transformative power of unlocking hidden potential, impacting not just one life, but the world at large.
In the US, approximately 2 million non-speaking individuals with autism face similar challenges to Siri, often underestimated in their intellectual abilities. Addressing how to bridge educational gaps and tailor learning content to accommodate unique needs becomes crucial.
Embracing this challenge, we developed an AI application to generate lessons tailored to Siri's learning style. Recently unveiled at a conference, the application aims to facilitate her educational journey. Explore it here: Sirica.ai
I urge you to support unheard voices, champion individuals seeking avenues for self-expression, and share stories like Siri's to instigate positive change in educational, communal, and healthcare settings. Together, we can unlock opportunities for countless others, offering pathways to education, potential, respect, and optimism.
